Full Rules

Palooka is an early add-a-ball game where you need to do two things: first, shoot the four drop targets which lights the center target for an add-a-ball and advances the value of the center target - - 100, then 200, 500 and finally 1000. Second, shoot the center target to add a ball in addition to getting those points.

The other good points here come from the top lane. Its value cycles from 100 through 500, then back to 100, changing once each time one of the top two bumpers or the slingshots is hit (but not the other 3 bumpers). This means if it’s lit for 500 when your ball begins, you want to drop it in there without touching a bumper; if it’s on 300 now, you want exactly two bumper hits before it falls in, and so on. Carefully note the plunger position on the markings there to help you do this; if you’re going to err, err on the low side, i.e. if you’re on 200, go for 2 or 3 hits to get to 400 or 500 without overshooting.

The saucers just outside the flippers will kick the ball out in the general direction of the lower drop targets, but not necessarily safely.

Playfield Risk

Balls ejected from the saucers that fall short of the opposite side drop targets and hit the slingshots instead. Bad feeds out of the bumpers. Rebounds from the two lower side drop targets can drain or go into the slingshots, while shots at the center target can rebound down the middle.
